The RAC is the new sport complex inside the Student Union building at Green River College. Here to serve the student of Green River College and to keep them fit and happy.

Introduction

The mission of the intramural sports program is to provide all students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of recreational sports that will appeal to both the domestic and the international student population at Green River College. The intramural sports program strives to foster a fun, energetic, and positive environment while creating opportunities for students to enhance their college experience.  By offering men’s, women’s, and co-ed opportunities, along with team and individual events, we hope to attract students off all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.  The intramural program values respect, good sportsmanship, and fun. This manual will serve as a guide for anyone interested in participating and how to get involved in the intramural program.

Purpose and Objectives

The intramural sports program will strive to provide students, faculty, and staff with quality recreational opportunities on campus by:

• Creating a healthy atmosphere for participants, spectators, and intramural sport employees
• Promoting participation regardless of race, religion, age, gender, skill level, handicap, national origin, and experience level
• Provide an opportunity to develop important values and skills such as self-esteem, social skills, sportsmanship, and self-motivation
• Providing students a place to socialize and get to know other students in a safe and structured environment
• Allowing faculty and staff the opportunity to participate with their coworkers or with other students
• Providing students, faculty, and staff a competitive outlet to reduce stress and promote wellness and physical activity.
• Offering a variety of different sports options to appeal to as many different students, faculty, and staff as possible
• Ensuring that intramural sport facilities and equipment are properly maintained and are safe for use in all games and matches
